Marine Lake, New Brighton

Friday 1 & Saturday 2 November

5.30pm – 9pm

FREE event

Deep in the water of New Brighton’s Marine Lake, something is stirring.

In days of old, on a remote and fragile part of the Wirral shoreline, a group of brave sailors went searching for the beating heart of a mythical sea creature. They called him Monty the Mersey Monster.

And now in darkest November, the Friends of New Brighton Marine Lake have resumed this search. As the mist rises on the horizon and waves crash against the sea wall, they might just find a river monster, lurking below the deep waters of New Brighton.

After centuries of slumber, this fiery dragon is returning home in a spectacular blaze.

Join the quest and be dazzled by this exciting display of light and colour, with three chances to see Monty each evening and a special performance by the Friends of New Brighton Marine Lake.

This is a chance to also meet incredible community organisations along the promenade, like Wirral Environmental Network who are championing our natural world and sustainable living among Wirral’s residents and communities.

This event is inspired by the true legend of Monty the Mersey Monster, named in 1207 by Sir Percival Montangle.
